NCP demands payment of salaries and bonuses to workers before Eid
The National Citizens Party (NCP) has demanded that the outstanding salaries and full bonuses of workers in all sectors, including garment workers, be paid before the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr. In addition, this new youth party has also condemned the police attack on the workers’ movement.
The NCP said these things in a press release sent to the media on Tuesday night. The press release was sent on behalf of the party by NCP Joint Member Secretary (Office) Saleh Uddin Sifat. The press release said that for the past few days, workers have been protesting for salaries and bonuses in various factories. Workers are also staying in front of the labor building. Among them, workers of ‘Style Crafts Limited’ have 14 months’ worth of wages. Ram Prasad Singh Johny, an official of ‘Style Crafts’, died of a stroke while protesting. Workers of ‘Apparels Eco Plus Limited’ are protesting at the same place demanding three months’ worth of wages. In addition, workers of Bhalukar Roar Fashion Limited are protesting in front of the BGMEA building in Uttara, the capital, demanding one month’s arrears of salary and layoff compensation.

Not only garment workers, but also workers from four tea gardens in Sylhet, including Kalagul, Burjan, and Charagan, have not been receiving wages for 14 weeks and rations for 8 weeks, the NCP said, saying that the government must resolve the problems of the workers from a responsible position. The crisis in the lives of the workers cannot be hidden. Workers are one of the main participants in the July mass uprising. The fall of the fascist Sheikh Hasina has been confirmed by standing on the blood of students, workers, and the masses. As a result, the future of Bangladesh will move forward by including the working masses.
Demanding that the salaries and bonuses of all workers be paid before Eid, the NCP’s statement also said, “Restructuring the labor sector of Bangladesh through reforms is the need of the hour. At the same time, we condemn the police attack on the workers’ movement for just demands.” “We do not want to see the police in the role of the police of the fascist era.” The notice immediately demanded that the interim government fulfill all the just demands of the workers regarding wages through a democratic process.
